The MOSC Scholastic Awards Program awards funds to schools that are making a difference in the educational lives of military children. The aim of the program is to aid you in your continued efforts to assist with the unique educational needs of our military children. Your efforts to date have been greatly appreciated and their impact far reaching. Together we hope to take another step toward educational excellence. Please be sure to include how the program will specifically impact the educational experience of the military children in your school or classroom.
To qualify for the funds, a school/group will need to complete and submit an application. As part of the application process, the school/group will need to identify a project they are willing to undertake and explain how the project will benefit your students. Projects can be permanent such as the re-design of an area set aside for the mentoring/counseling/tutoring of children of deployed military members. Obviously, our intent is to reach as many military children a possible, but we also want to benefit all students.
If you have applied for and been granted funding from the MOSCA in the past school year, you are not eligible to re-apply until one full school year has passed. This stipulation is not building-wide. For example, if a teacher applied for and received funding during the 2011-12 school year, that teacher may not apply during the 2012-13 school year. But (s)he may apply again during the 2013-14 school year. Also, any other teacher in the same building may apply as long as (s)he did not receive funding in the prior school year.
