McConnell Outreach

What is Outreach to McConnell Families? It is an opportunity to learn more about those agencies/programs within the McConnell Air Force Base (MAFB) community that are specifically designed to connect with the military and their families. Each month, a select agency/program will be highlighted on Wichitalk (the MOSC’s newsletter), on www.mcconnellosc.org (the MOSC’s webpage), as well as in a social function reminder e-mail to our members. Then, at our monthly MOSC gathering, there will be a table providing information and/or an occasion to meet a representative from the featured agency/program. This representative will have the opportunity to make a brief public service announcement (3-5 minutes). Further, the MOSC membership and board members will have an opportunity to contribute beyond this monthly function by sharing this information with others and voluntarily bringing a donation for the outreach prospect.

Why was Outreach to McConnell Families created? It was created to address the need of finding out what is available to us, as military and military families, as well as to assist the MOSC in promoting our organization. Research has shown that when an individual has an opportunity to see (an article or information), hear (meet a representative), and take action (contribute beyond merely being a member through the outreach opportunity), it is more likely they will integrate the information into their lives.

Who will be featured? We are excited to have a number of excellent MAFB community resources slated to be featured throughout the year. A sampling of agencies/programs includes: the Airman and Family Readiness Center; Services Squadron/Information, Tickets and Tours; and the American Red Cross.
